Writing Projects

Over the last 3 decades, Ruef has written numerous songs, poetry, scripts, plays and screenplays. 

His first play, Sex Drive, was produced at Pitt Theatre back in 1995. Sex Drive: College roommates struggle with romance and sexual relationships before graduation.

His RockDrama, Pipes and Needles, explored a rising Rock Band in Pittsburgh who struggle with their addictions in recording their first album. 

He wrote a couple of spec scripts for Hollywood producers and wrote, produced, directed and developed short film projects: 

EASTER ROCKZ-A hustling minister struggles to produce a profitable Easter Rock concert to save his church from a narcissistic pastor threatening to steal his congregants.

THE RIDDLE OF SAMSON, Samson, the OT hero, set within the ancient context of his time but with greater exploration of his humanity and within the historical critical research. 

HORSES CRY TOO-(Short Film) A broken-hearted champion struggles with cancer and depression seeks Equine Assisted Therapy, Healing with Horses. HCT was developed as a film trailer and short film/video to seek future funding for the full movie production. We are still in the creative process to reach that goal.  HCT short film was shown at the Green Mountain Christian Film Festival and the Equus Film and Arts Festival in the Fall of 2021. HCT short film received the “Winnie” Award from the Equus Film and Arts Festival.

THE UNITY PROJECT-(Short film, In Post-Production), A volatile builder is assaulted by a resentful restauranteur at the a coffee shop; therefore, they are both sentenced to an Inclusive Community Project. They struggle through the Racism Anon meetings and the Service Projects to complete their probation.

A DAY IN THE LIFE-(Educational Video Series) A group of Americans struggle to deal with the stress of their daily lives and then come together to connect communally, enjoy fellowship, and have fun at a church picnic.
